Finding Inspiration in Every Move
Dance Focus Academy is a dance school based in its own dedicated studios in Albert Street, Fleet. We offer dance classes to all ages, covering diverse genres. As principal April Timpson says "My aim at Dance Focus Academy is to provide an environment that is both safe and enjoyable for children and adults alike, where learning dance can develop the mind and life skills as well as the body, whether it is to pursue a career in the performing arts, or just for fun."
Our Story
Dance Focus Academy was formed in 2003 by April Timpson, initially operating from halls in Fleet, Rotherwick, Heckfield and Elvetham Heath. In 2019 we moved to our own dedicated studios in Albert Street, Fleet, where we offer two distinct studios. Studio 2 is a large multi purpose studio including mirrors and removable acro mat. Studio 1 is predominantly designed for ballet with a sprung wooden floor, barres and mirrors.

Meet The Team
April Timpson
Principal
April Timpson is the founder and principal of Dance Focus Academy. She currently heads up the ballet faculty but also teaches modern, jazz, tap, musical theatre and acro.
qualifications include-
AISTD/FDI/CDE/DDP/LISTD.
AAC1
Trained at The Centre for Performing Arts.
Choreographer and performer.
Jade Fitchett
Consulting Creative
Miss Jade was the modern, tap and latin teacher, but had to stand down from her teaching responsibilities in Feb '24. She continues to support DFA by assisting Annette Owen with latin and contemporary choreography.
Annette Owen
Latin & Contemporary
Annette has danced her whole life (almost), and has trained in many different dance styles. With contemporary, latin and Scottish dancing being her passions, she was able to step up and take over those classes when Miss Jade had to step down.
Rachel Colman
Ballet Cover teacher​
Rachel is a student ISTD teacher, and currently teaches the early morning Saturday ballet classes. Rachel's passion is ballroom and latin, and she currently competes on the amateur circuit.

Emily Jacobs
Modern & Tap cover teacher
​​Emily currently teaches our Wednesday modern and tap classes. A former student of DFA, Emily finished university and is intending to start teacher training in the coming months.
